This sample
of work was completed by one of my year 5 students at the end of a study of The Man from Snowy River written by Banjo Paterson. It demonstrates my achievement towards focus area 3.2 as it provides evidence that I can plan well sequenced lessons to engage students and promote learning outcomes.
The class had previously been working in groups analysing the ballad and had participated in group presentations where they explained the two stanzas they had been analysing. After delivering their own presentations, and watching their peers presentations, the students rewrote the story from the perspective of The Man from Snowy River. Placing this lesson at the end of all of the presentations was vital to ensure the students were given the opportunity to have been exposed to the ballad in its entirety with a full explanation of terminology and meanings of each stanza.
